CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Veteran booking agent Shelly Schultz has been named the director of entertainment at the United Center and will act as a consultant for all concert related business. He replaces Sal Bonafede who passed away in the spring.
“We are excited to welcome Shelly to our United Center team,” said William W. Wirtz, president of the United Center. “Shelly’s experience and knowledge of the concert and entertainment industry is extensive. This past spring we lost a great friend and representative in Sal Bonafede and it took us a while to find an individual that could carry on the foundation and relationships that Sal had developed on behalf of the United Center. We’re fortunate that Sal and Shelly were very close friends and knew each other over the years which will help facilitate a smoother transition.”
“Joining the United Center team and replacing my friend Sal Bonafede, who developed such strong relationships on behalf of this venue, is both a joyful and bittersweet event for me,” said Schultz. “I look forward to working with the extraordinary team of men and women gathered by Bill Wirtz and Jerry Reinsdorf and furthering their successes over recent years. This is an extraordinary venue with an already impeccable reputation in the heart of North America and the touring market. We plan to host more and diverse events and continue to prove to the industry that the United Center is the place to play!”
Schultz's agency career has spanned posts with GAC, IFA, ICM, and William Morris Agency. In 2000 he left WMA and started Trident Media Group with partners Robert Gottlieb and Daniel Strone, where he serves as president. Schultz continues to represent longtime client Linda Ronstadt. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
